Spring Break Fun and Deals along the Georgia Coast

With spring break season in full swing, and summer not far behind, the Georgia coast is ready to welcome visitors. The beach may be what brings you to the Golden Isles of Georgia, but there is a whole lot more to do than just lounge with your toes in the sand. Here are three things you may not know to do in the Golden Isles this spring break and over summer vacation.

Sunset from the dock at the Tidelands Nature Center

Tidelands Nature Center, Jekyll Island: This nature center is a less flashy cousin of the better-known Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Take a class out on the covered dock. We’ve learned the parts of the fish using play dough and songs, hung over the edge with our nets in the water to catch creatures to examine and just had a great time. Bonus: Jekyll Island Holiday Inn is offering $119 per night rates through March 31. Get a 20% discount per night anytime if you book your reservations at least two weeks prior to arrival.

footgolf at Sea Palms Resort

Footgolf at Sea Palms Resort, St. Simons Island: Golf courses are some of the most beautifully scenic spaces, but they’re rather inaccessible if you don’t play the game. Enter footgolf. It’s golf played with a soccer ball. It’s perfect for any age; all you have to do is kick the ball. And, it’s a great way to experience the beauty of a golf course without the frustration of playing the game. Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons has a 9-hole course you can either walk or use a cart.

Lady Jane Shrimpin & Sightseeing Tour

Take a Lady Jane Shrimpin & Sightseeing Tour to explore the Georgia coast.

Shrimp on the Lady Jane, Brunswick: This is my favorite outing in the Golden Isles. Guests board an authentic shrimp boat and head out into the marshes to explore the bounty of the sea. The Lady Jane lowers her nets several times, and an onboard marine biologist identifies the catch. We’ve examined stingrays, puffer fish and more up close, and we were even allowed to hold some of the fish. Bonus: Stay five nights at the Microtel Inn and Suites in Brunswick and save 40% off the best available room rate.
