Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. With National Pancake Day just around the corner on March 8, what better reason is there to check out some of Atlanta’s sweetest diners?
The Flying Biscuit Cafe. The best thing about this café (other than the fact that they serve breakfast all day), would be their organic oatmeal pancakes. They come to the table light, fluffy and covered in warm peach compote with a side of hot maple syrup. With multiple locations to choose from, what’s not to love?
J. Christopher’s. Can you say options? This breakfast haven serves up several pancake options to satisfy both the traditionalist AND the more adventurous connoisseur. You can choose from buttermilk, blueberry, blueberry crunch (which has granola mixed in with the standard blueberry pancake batter), chocolate chip and even flat pancakes they call crepes.
The Original Pancake House. Although they’re not originally from Atlanta, I would be remiss if I didn’t include The Original Pancake House in this listing for two scrumptious reasons: their Dutch Baby and their Apple Pancake. The Apple Pancake is one big pancake smothered with sautéed apples and cinnamon sugar and then baked to perfection, creating a delicious cinnamon sugar glaze. The Dutch Baby (one of my favorites), is a light-as-air pancake that’s oven baked — instead of cooked on the griddle — and served with fresh lemon, whipped butter and powdered sugar. YUM!
