Fresh flowers, warm weather and Cabbage Patch Kids can only mean one thing: The 26th Annual Cabbage Patch Kids Magical Easter Eggstravaganza is near! The hospital staff at BabyLand General has a host of activities planned for you and your family; they’re expecting a very special guest, the Easter Bunny! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 12!
Cabbage Patch Kids have long been an iconic symbol of Cleveland, Georgia. Xavier Roberts first developed the idea in 1977, originally branding them “Little People.” The idea came to Roberts while working as a manager at the Unicoi Craft Shop in Helen, Georgia. Becoming what is now known as Cabbage Patch Kids; the loveable dolls went on to be a popular trend in the 1980s and are still a popular toy among children today.
BabyLand General Hospital, located in Cleveland, Georgia is referred to as the “Home” of the Cabbage Patch Kids. Visitors from around the world tour the facility.
Throughout the year, BabyLand General – the 70,000-square-foot antebellum mansion, hosts several family-friendly events. The largest spring event hosted by BabyLand General is the Cabbage Patch Kids Magical Easter Eggstravaganza.
Beginning at 8 a.m., join the Easter Bunny himself for a fabulous pancake breakfast in the Magic Crystal Ballroom. Reservations are required so please contact 706-865-2171 to book your child’s spot.
At 9 a.m., tour BabyLand General Hospital Grounds and drop by the arts & crafts festival for fresh food, live music, games, dancing and prizes. Hosted by the White County Chamber of Commerce, this year’s festival will include a rock climbing wall, bungee jump and moon walk.
At 11 a.m., make your way to historic downtown Cleveland to participate in the celebration parade. Beginning at Jack P. Nix School, the parade continues through the square and ends near the Cleveland courthouse. Enjoy colorful floats and costumes, music, happy clowns and more Cabbage Patch Kids!
At 1 p.m., return to the Magic Crystal Ballroom to enjoy delicious afternoon treats of cupcakes and carrots with the Easter Bunny.
An Easter celebration would not be complete without an egg hunt! At 2 p.m. your little one can begin the search through 28,000 colorful eggs. Dispersed across the front lawn of BabyLand General, thousands of eggs will be filled with candy, prizes or a small toy. There are separate age areas for children, infant to three, four to five and ages six to 10.
The day of Easter fun winds down at 3 p.m. with the Easter bonnet contest. Children show their crafts skills as they design an original Easter bonnet for their new Cabbage Patch Kid. Adults, this is the time to unleash your inner child; you can enter the contest too!
